Autism Awareness Month
.jpg) Welcome To Turlington! The first day at a new school can be scary for some people. At Turlington, we do not want that to happen. Student Council (which I am in) sets up a "New Student Social" where we give the new students cookies and juice while we talk to them and make them feel at home. We do that regularly for all the new students who have joined here over the past few months. We also welcome the new student with a tour of our school. We show them our library, music, the gym, the cafeteria and their classroom. Along the way we learn their name, where they came from and things that they are interested in. Many parents join in on the tour as well, this is our first chance to make these new kids feel right at home. Many students at the social say they already have friends and they like the social, the school, and everyone in the school. Very few are shy, and the ones who are not, talk about how they are doing in school and what they like about it. Student Council is very proud to have such an impact on all of the new students here at Turlington. -Alexander Nichols
I am so humbled to be named Turlington’s “Teacher of the Year”. Waller ISD welcomed me into this huge loving family almost ten years ago. I am so thankful and blessed to have this incredible job. Each day I am surrounded by supportive co workers and extraordinary children. These students teach and inspire me as I teach and inspire them. It brings me great joy to watch them learn and grow and to watch them form in to the people they will become. Thank you Turlington family for this wonderful opportunity.
Paraprofessional of the Year -
Julie Schuller I am so shocked to be given the privilege of being chosen as Paraprofessional of the Year. I consider this a very big honor considering all the paraprofessionals here at Turlington. There are so many warm and wonderful people that work here. I don’t consider this a job, we are a family.
I have been working for Waller ISD for the past 10 years. This is my fourth year as the registrar at Turlington. Being the registrar I don’t get the privilege of working with the children as much as others. I am the lucky one that gets to meet all the new families as they enroll here. I then get the honor to introduce them to all of our wonderful staff. It is an honor even to be considered as Para of the Year. I just hope I may continue to help parents, staff and children for many years to come.
